    Steam a seam lite 2

    Hi Guys,

I recently purchased some of the new steam a seam lite 2. I have not used it yet but I gave some to a friend at our group and she used it. Today at our group meeting she told me that she is not impressed with the new steam a seam as it gummed up her needle!!!!

Has anybody else had this problem? Did she do something wrong?

    Help please.

    Hugs

    Caroline

Sorry, I have not used the steam-a-seam products in a while for that reason and don't know how they changed the formula. I switched to Soft Fuse which is more expensive but such a joy to work with.

Yes, very gummy. I just rubbed a scrap up/down the needle every so often and pulled off the little sticky bit. It was ok for that project but ... think I'll save the S-a-S 2 for things with minimal sewing.

I bought two boxes when it was on sale. Haven't used it. I have no problem with Heat & Bond lite. I have used it since it first came out.

I had used it one time and hated it. Friend likes it so we swapped copy of a pattern for it.

You have to bond the fusible to the fabric well. If it is gummy put more steam and heat to it. In the directions it says to not be afraid of pressing it too much. I had a gummy problem that went away after I pressed it more. Now I just make sure I press it a lot, using steam and it doesn't gum up the needle. Most fusibles use a dry iron. This one uses steam so make sure you use steam. It is one of my favorite fusibles.

Thank you for the head up citruscountyquilter, I will make sure I give it some steam when I use it.
