I bought a plastic flimsy thing (pretty descriptive, huh? sorry, don't know name) to make a stencil template.

My question is...I am having a difficult time using a matt knife to cut out the stencil and was wondering if there is something easier. I was wondering about maybe a wood engraving tool that can melt the plastic. Thinking this would be smoother and faster.

Has anyone tried it? Or does anyone have any tips?

I used paper scissors. I'm sure others here will have better suggestions,

Yes I have used my woodburning tool to make the stencil. It smells up the whole house while you are doing it, but the cut outs are a lot smoother than with a knife. Good luck! :)

Woodburniing tool, ols soldering iron, and if your Clover iron takes attachments, there is one that does stencils. Like Katfish said, the edges are smoother and less likely to tear if you store them after using.
