stitch in the ditch or not

I am making a table topper 84 inch long. I sewed my seams open. Can't remember if you stitch in the ditch or not. I remember something about when you sitd the needle cuts the thread. Help please.

Your SITD will be much more weaker because of having your seams pressed open. You can do a decorative stitch instead, even something a simple as a zig zag stitch.

If you pressed your seams open, I would not quilt stitch directly on the seam stitching, but slightly to one side of the seam just to be safe.

most people who stitch in the ditch actually stitch next to it. not in it. but you could stitch 1/4 inch next to all seams. that would hold it all nicely.

I press my seams open and have quilted LOTS of table runners stitched directly in the ditch. NO issues with threads breaking and seams opening.

I press seams open all the time as well. I've done (hand) in the ditch quilting but have evolved to doing usually 1/4" to the side. I want my work to show!
