Is it better to stitch in the ditch with the seams open instead of one seam going one way and the other going the other way? I am new at this. I am trying to find a way that is easier. Please help! Thanks for all the help.

With one seam going one way or the other. If you press open you will be stitching in the seam threads and it will probably "unstitch" your seam.

One side...you don't want to break the threads in the seam, agree with above

I didn't think of that breaking the seam already sewed. Thanks for your input. I won't open the seams because I don't want them to break. Thanks again

One other tip. Press the seam toward the darker fabric. That way, it won't show through the top.

Besides if you press open and stitch in the ditch, you'll be sewing where there is no fabric.

I don't like to do SID. If I ever do it again, I think I will use the serpentine stitch -- much more relaxing!

A SID machine foot is especially designed to stitch just to the right of your seam, so that you are not sewing on top of your piecing stitches. Also, it is recommended that you use the smallest zig zag stitch, rather than a straight stitch. Without the SID foot, it is virtually impossible to stitch anywhere except on the original stitches and hard to sew as straight as I want. When using a SID foot, the stitching is very close to but not precisely on the seam, so it looks good.

Are there any SID feet or attachments that work with a walking foot?? I have a SID foot but it is a regular foot and I want to use my walking foot for doing the quilting.
