When you make quilt binding, what do you do with the excess? How do you store it?

I wrap mine on heavy card stock, about the size of an index card and pin in place. Then use for small projects.

I keep mine in a plastic shoe box. I sew pieces together and use for scrap quilts.

Mine are in a basket. When I get too many, I open them up and use like any other string in a scrap quilt.

I throw them in with my scrap pieces. But they are rolled up in the drawer.

If I have more than 24 inches, I keep it intact and use to bind a pot holder or other small project. I keep the pressed strips coiled and held with a pin in a box of bindings.

If it's just bit and pieces, it goes into a big basket until I have the inclination to make a scrappy spectrum quilt. I often organize by color, stitch all the odd scraps into rows, and make quilts similar to the one in my avatar. It's an easy quilt, virtually "free" since it's all scraps from previous projects (batting is also pieced scraps left over from larger quilts) and, ironically, it's the style of quilt I get most compliments on.
