Default Strip Piecing Triangles

I am wanting to know if there is a way to strip piece triangles so that they will be 1 up, the next one down and so on. Then make several rows of the triangles so that there will be a solid piece of triangles. They will actually look like diamonds beside and inside each other. However, I don't want to do them as diamonds as I really don't want to do that many "y" stitches. I want to use this as a backing for a quilt for my grandson. And it's 101 inches by 101 inches. Not looking forward to that many triangles let alone diamonds. The whole top was made up of diamonds. You'd think by now I'd be pretty good at it. Not! Thanks for anyone's help!

Yes, it can be done, this is an example: http://www.modabakeshop.com/2012/03/...nic-quilt.html

Thank you. This is very helpful. I can get my triangles assembled into a backing but I'm thinking that I will need to do it 1 triangle at a time. I can't see a way to sew strips and then cut them into the right shape to assemble them into rows.

I've strip pieced triangles and assembled them into squares so I don't see why you couldn't do them as rows instead of squares. The ones I did were from a jelly roll and came out nice.
