I didn't place my question on the General Chit Chat because my queries are to do with Quilts and their components.

If the moderators feel it should be placed elsewhere, please move it to the appropriate spot.

My Questions: (in preparation of stocking my On-line Website Store).

What type of thread(s) do you prefer - for hand and machine quilting - cottons ? polyester cotton-look ?

What thread colours would you use most frequently ? Would you be interested in colour variety kits ?

What size spool(s) would you use and what thread weight ?

I will be stocking Warm Company Batting lines - Warm & Natural, Warm & White, Soft & Bright, Warm Bond 80/20, Warm Bland 50/50, Insul Bright, Warm Tater, Steam-a-Seam & Lite Steam ---- what sizes would you use most frequently ?

To provide low pricing to my customers, I hope to keep my inventory costs LOW so stocking items I know will move quickly will help to achieve a lower over-head which I can continue to pass on to my customers.

Also, if you could tell me what other items would be of interests (notions, etc.) that will really help as well.

What payment options would you be most likely to use - PayPal, Credit Card, Cheque ?

Lastly, if you could get a good price (lower than what your LQS would charge) on item(s) would you be willing to wait for delivery (I would place weekly orders from my supplier - your item would ship once I receive my mass order)?

I will appreciate any help you can give and hopefully, I can have my online store operating soon.

Many thanks,

I would be most likely to use Pay Pal.
I would be willing to wait for fabric if it was a better price than LQS prices.
Notions - Sewing machine needles, assortment of pins, markers

Hi,

I don't hand quilt but for piecing I prefer cotton thread. I like 50 wt. for piecing, Aurifil is my favorite but it's pretty pricey.

I like to buy my piecing thread in larger spools, I think the Aurifil is 1300 meters. I mostly use cream, grey, black and tan. I don't think I'd be interested in kits as there's often colors in them that I wouldn't use.

For machine quilting I use a lot variegated thread which isn't always easy to find on Canadian websites, or if it is the price is very high. I've tried two Superior Threads products, those being King Tut and Lava and love them both.

I'm glad to see you carrying Warm products. That is my favorite batting and not always easy to get in Canada unless one wants to pay Fabricland's ridiculous prices. I prefer to buy it by the meter/yard as opposed to quilt sizes.

My preferred payment method would be Paypal and
I would be more than willing to wait for an order if it meant lower cost to me.

Good luck with your website/store!

Aurifil thread works best for piecing. Much less "fuzz" and tension stays the best on my machine. Color most often used is lite tan or lite gray.
Batting sizes, I usually get queen size since I can make four crib or small lap quilts out of one piece. Otherwise I get it by the yard. Warm and Natural is my favorite.
Not sure on prices.
Paypal would also be preferedd method of payment.
Have fun!

My Questions: (in preparation of stocking my On-line Website Store).

What type of thread(s) do you prefer - for hand and machine quilting - cottons ? polyester cotton-look ?
**I like 50wt in 1200 yard spool to piece and rayon for machine quilting. I love verigated thread that has the colors twisted, not chunks of color.

What thread colours would you use most frequently ? Would you be interested in colour variety kits ?
**Green, Blue and earth tones. Variety is great.

What size spool(s) would you use and what thread weight ?
**see above
I will be stocking Warm Company Batting lines - Warm & Natural, Warm & White, Soft & Bright, Warm Bond 80/20, Warm Bland 50/50, Insul Bright, Warm Tater, Steam-a-Seam & Lite Steam ---- what sizes would you use most frequently ?
*Warm & Natural the most-but I can get that with a JoAnns coupon pretty low price + no shipping.

To provide low pricing to my customers, I hope to keep my inventory costs LOW so stocking items I know will move quickly will help to achieve a lower over-head which I can continue to pass on to my customers.

Also, if you could tell me what other items would be of interests (notions, etc.) that will really help as well.
*unique rotary rulers

What payment options would you be most likely to use - PayPal, Credit Card, Cheque ?
**I love Paypal because I am protected.

Lastly, if you could get a good price (lower than what your LQS would charge) on item(s) would you be willing to wait for delivery (I would place weekly orders from my supplier - your item would ship once I receive my mass order)?
*Yes

I will appreciate any help you can give and hopefully, I can have my online store operating soon.
**I make hand dyed fabrics. If you are interested, PM me.

You will have many customers if your fabric prices are below LQS prices. I can't buy from LQS because it's way too costly, but watch the major corporations like JoAnn's. The company continues to raise their fabric and Warm and Natural prices by $1 a yard once or twice a year. Eventually, people will find it's not even affordable to make their own clothes. Good luck.

The last thing I buy on line is thread. With the exception of invisable in clear and smoke. But I have LQS close by and by Superior Tread there. I find often the shipping is based on the $$ spent and I refuse to pay an extra $6.00 shipping for a $27.00 spool of thread.
