I'm looking to challenge myself with an advanced quilting project and need some ideas on either patterns or designers that you think would fall into this category.

I'm not sure what type of project you're interested in. Love your avatar. There is a quilt-along starting here Aug 4 doing the Farmers Wife Sampler Quilt, 1930s. It's similar in style to your avatar. The blocks look difficult and challenging, finish at 6" and there are 90+ blocks. I don't have the link, but if you go to Blocks of the Month section and scroll down you'll see the notice posted by Honchey. We've done other FWS quilts together and help & challenge each other along the way. And we have a ton of fun LOL!! Please think about joining in.

Do you want paper piecing? Curves? Tiny blocks with a zillion pieces? Hand piecing? All kinds of things can make a quilt challenging.

Duster - thanks for helping me narrow down my options. I love piecing, hand and machine appliqué and embroidery and to keep my interest I guess I'd like to make a quilt that would incorporate those techniques no matter the design or how many pieces it might have. Paper piecing I tolerate as long as it is a small project. I've done no curved projects so that might be an option too.

If you can find the 'Christmas Pickle' pattern, it is paper piecing; has curves; also plain piecing. Lap size so not too much of a commitment. I did not find it overly difficult but did incorporate lots of new (at the time) techniques for me.
