Default Suggestions wanted

Decided to clean my quilt room today and after I was done I found some cute juvenile fabric I never knew I had so I decided to make a quilt for my grandbaby. I am going to use a split rail fence design. My question is do you think the way I have the colors set for the rails would work or would you switch them up at all. I haven't made a rail fence in years. Another question, do you sew all your strip sets together then press or do you press between. I remember the last time I made a rail fence I had a hard time getting my strip sets to finish out at 6-1/2" .

Thanks!!

Mindy

Love the colour choices, I usually press once I have them stitched together, and if they're not quite the 6 1/2 trim down the alternating squares to fit.

I really like your choices and think your grandchild will love it! I assume it's for a girl?

Good choices.
F&P always point out that if the fabric is not pressed before you start, you are asking for trouble. After I have all the blocks sewn I press again and check for size before I assemble, although with prepressing, that is not much of a problem.

BTW, I think a stash of juvenile prints is a good idea. I use mine for family and for give aways.

Cute fabrics. I love frogs. I have a whole bunch of frog fabric I have collected just no babies anymore to make quilts for.

That is going to be cute! Don't sweat it if your strip sets aren't exactly 6.5. Just trim them up square and make your solid squares the same size so they will assemble with ease.

This is what I do to.

What delightful fabric choices, and such great color combinations. I wouldn't change a thing.
