Include something interesting about the quilt in the "title" like the type of quilt, type of blocks, colors, or whatever to draw viewer's attention. Avoid things like "just finished" or "new quilt"; many of us, I'm guessing, don't have time to look at every photo.

It seems many of the questions about quilts shown are frequently about two things: the pattern source (if there is one) and the material source (if it is a unique kind of design or collection). Include this information if possible.

Avoid using too many abbreviations for the sake of the newer quilters. I keep using the list of "quilting related acronyms and terms" which has been previously posted but some aren't even on there. Thanks.

There have been many topics about this on the QB and bears repeating. Thanks.

I would also add the following:
Descriptive topic titles, especially for known patterns are essential if the search function is to work properly. For example "Mariners Compass" "Attic Windows" "Tumbling Blocks" "Bargello" so they can easily be found using the search function and so cat-on-a-mac can find them to add them to the quilt gallery. If you do not include this in your topic, the chances are your quilt will never make it to the gallery.

Many of us thrive on the technical details and really isn't this how we learn? There was a topic a few months back and the overwhelming response was to include as much info as you could on your quilt. Not only pattern name and a source for the pattern or if it is your own original design, but if you are showing off the quilting was it done by hand, FMQ on domestic machine or long arm quilted. If long arm is it unmarked free hand, panto, following a marked design such as stencil, or computer generated.
