Default Sunshine or star sunshine pattern?

I always sang 'you are my sunshine' when rocking my GD to sleep. She is very attached to that song and now that she is a 'big' 4 year old, she has been transferred into her 'big' girls bed - twin size. Could any of you guide me to a paper pieced pattern that would have one (not blocks) big sun or star looking like sun in the middle? I am only finding block patterns.

Try looking at Mariner's Compass patterns. There are lots of them that are multi-layered that would look amazing (dare I say brilliant?) in multiple shades of yellow and gold.

I like the sketch of this sun but it's not pp...it's tile work. Scroll down almost to bottom of page.

totally off topic but I also used to sing this song to my daughter at bedtime when she was little. Now that she has a baby I will make a quilt out of a fabric line called " You are My Sunshine" Not sure but think it is Moda , out in the last year. It is bright , pretty girly prints and colors.

I sang that song, too, and considered making a blanket with an embroidered sun in the middle, along with the words...
