Default t shirt quilts

What is the best way to cut t shirts for a t shirt quilt? I have a pattern planned, but want to make sure I cut the shirts correctly.

I figure out about what size my block will be and cut the shirts down to that size plus an inch or two on all sides. Iron those on to Pellon fusible interfacing. Then cut them to the size you need centering the design best you can. I use rotary cutter and my 16-1/2 square ruler. I posted a picture about a week ago of one I recently finished.

Until you know for sure what size blocks you are going to have, cut generously! I've done a lot of blocks and wished I had cut them bigger when it came time to use them.

I cut mine as big as the front of the shirt - after i put iron on stabilizer on first before cutting. What i ultimately removed to make the blocks was not wasted...i cut it into strips and used it as sashing to even up the various sized blocks and for the borders.

I cut as large as size as I can, put on stabilizer, measure and then cut all to the same size.

I iron on the interfacing before I cut down to the final size.
