table runner with flannel-machine quilt?

I am making a DP9 table runner. I am sandwiching it with flannel. Can I machine quilt it since the middle will be flannel? I don't know how else to hold the layers together. TIA

of course you can. you might need to baste/pin more or less than if you were using batting. you have to respect the nature of the fabrics you are working with. Be sure and shrink the flannel well because in washing it will shrink differently from the other fabrics. There have been many posts here about using flannel and the overwhelming recommenting is to wash, wash, wash, shrink, shrink the flannel before using it.

you should be fine. I only put flannel in as the batting for a rag quilt before and it was fine.
