Default tail of embroideried thread

I embroider my blocks and am having trouble with the bottom tail of the thread. How do you keep the "tail" from showing through when you look at the block from the right side of the block? I thought about using a thin batting the same size of the block and embroider through both layers. Any suggestions?

I use to fish my ends through the back of the done part of the embroidery. Had to leave extra thread, but it looked nicer.

I've used batting and I've used a double thickness of fabric to hide the tails...but mostly I don't worry about it, because to me they pretty much only show when I'm looking for them!

I use a woven iron-on stabilizer called Form Flex. It stabilizes the fabric so I don't use a hoop anymore, and prevents any threads from showing through.

I use quilters dream batting behind everything that I hand embroider.
