The movers taped my green Olfa cutting mats together, and after removing the tape, it left a sticky residue on my mats. I am at a loss as to how to remove this residue. Used Goo Gone, that didn't work. Used it again and tried to scrape off the residue. No luck. I even tried Comet cleanser on a brush and made a paste. No luck.

Have any of you experienced removing something like this sticky residue from the mat material? and what did you use? Thank you so much, this is annoying as all get out.

try nail polish remover if you're not afraid of hurting the mats. As long as you use soap and water afterwards
it ought to be okay.

try simple vegetable oil. i use that on price tag residue. it might be the same. otherwise, have you tried contacting the movers? either for them to remove the glue for you or to replace your mats.

I wish I could tell you how to remove the sticky stuff, but alas put a claim in with the mover and let them pay for new mats. Working for a mover for over 10 years I can say they will probably pay you for it, get an add with what you want replaced and include with a letter to the claims department.

When we moved they lost our patio table, I filed claim and sent the receipt in for my purchase that I found on sale at a great price. I received my check almost in return mail, they really do want satisfied customers when all is said and done.

I use a product called De-Solv-it and it is fantastic for removing sticky spots after removing labels, gum, pitch from softwoods, & more! I cant do without it when we make Christmas wreaths. You can sometimes get it at Walmart. It is organic & biodegradable! (and smells nice, unlike goo gone)

I don't have any more suggestions...but If you hired a company for moving I think this could qualify for a claim for reimbursement.

I'd try WD-40. You'd be surprised at all the stuff that stuff can do.

Try "goof off" in a bright yellow little can. I've never tried it on a cutting mat, but it's amazing what it instantly removes w/o leaving a stain. The odor dissipates well. Works much better than "goo gone" in my usages.

Thank you everyone ! I will try these suggestions. (Contacting the mover is not an option, the amount involved is not enough for a claim, they'll probably just ignore it.) If all else fails, I'll use some coupons and buy them again that way.
