What I do is find out what they like. I have three teens. Color
is what we start with, then the patterns are next. I just love to hear the excitement in their voices. This makes me happy in my heart. I have three sewing machines that were donated to them. When they make a block I will show the doners their work. Keep you posted.

That's awesome. I have three daughters, all now in their twenties. So far none of them want to learn to quilt!

That's wonderful. You are recruiting a new generation of quilters.

I have 2 daughters and neither one of them has shown an interest in sewing, knitting, crocheting, or cross stitch, all of which I do. It is fantastic that teens are interested in learning to make quilts. There aren't too many that show an interest in quilting. It is great that you take the time and effort to teach them. Have fun teaching them and post plenty of pictures.

Well, as of a few days ago...I no longer have any teens! My youngest just turned 20. She really likes to sew (more so than her 22 year old sis), however, both are quite capable seamstresses. My girls were both involved in 4H and did both wearable and non-wearable sewing projects. I found that letting them choose their own projects and fabrics was the key. And...now the nicest thing...my 27 year old son is getting married in March and, guess what? His fiancee loves quilting and knitting!!! I am thrilled as can be!

That's so funny! My family's just the opposite, I'm the one who likes to quilt, and my mom thinks I'm weird! :)
