WOW!!! Thank you all for the input. The girls are wraped up with class work now. But I will be ready for them tonight after dinner. I was tought to make a large tote bag out of grosery plastic bags. That You all may have already heard of.After flatening out the bag you fold it from side to side until its about an inch wide just fold it over and over, then you cut off the bottom and the top(the handles of the bag)and cut it into strips about an inch wide,you will then have what looks like a necklace made of plastic after unfold your strips, tie the ends together in a larks knots.You then start to crochet a 25-30 stich chain(if you like a big bag) and then single crochet around the chain,increase by 2 stitches on both ends to make the bottom then single crochet around and up, the bag will then form.For the handles repeat the bottom of the bag.

I teach quilting to 4-H kids. It's fun and rewarding. If you have a yearning to share your skills, then volunteering is the way to go. My son started quilting at 10 yrs old. Last summer he made his 4th quilt which received a Grand Champion ribbon at the county fair and 4th place at State Fair. He even has his own account at our LQS.

I have two daughters - 8 & 9 years old. After watching me make a quilt (just recently finished my first top and am working on my second) they are very eager to learn. So we went to the fabric store and got them each a $10.00 FQ bundle of their choice and we had a really fun time cutting and ironing and sewing. They both did really well and will soon each have a small child sized lap quilt of their own making. Not only are they learning a great skill, but it's something we can spend time doing together on rainy days. I just wish we had more than one machine!

I go to Curves 'as much as I can' and I let all my Curvets know that I was teaching Quilting and we were blessed over and over. We receved two machines and plenty of fabric. They were so glad to donate them. Now I gather with 10-14 quilters over 60yrs. young once a week and we donate baby quilts to Loma Linda Hospital. The smallest quilt was 7'x7' sq., and we had fun doing it. So with that, each one of the girls will donate a quilt to a baby.
I also go to thrift stores and one was given to me. Finaly yard sales, a friend told me she saw a machine and they wanted $10-15 dollers. We went to see it and I said the machine was for my 5 year old daughter, th man did not belive me and charged me $10. So he asked my lil one who the machie was for? Well lets say he gave me $5 back.

Oh!!! You can ask famiy and friends if they have a machine they are not using.

Thank you, I want to be totaly involved with my girls. I respect and believe in them and what they can do. I was not clear, I have a seinor in high, an eighth grader in jr. high, a second grader and my oldest daughter's bf (best friend) another senior. They alllll like to quilt. YAY!!!!!!!!!

That is great! You are teaching them a skill that they will enjoy forever. They will think of you and the fun they had learning. They are lucky girls!
