I have the chance to purchase a Brother PC 8200 for $900 OBO. Does anyone have one that might offer me an idea if this machine is worth the money. I reallllllllly want an embroidery machine but not sure about $900 for a (used) machine???? I'd love to hear from anyone with any ideas. Thanks to all my quilting buddies!

I don't know anything about that machine BUT you can get a NEW Janome 300E for that price. I have the 300E and absolutely love it. I was doing embroidery 30 minutes after taking it out of the box.

I had the 8200 upgraded to the 8500 about 6-8 yrs ago. Unless it has a whole bunch of extras with it, i think that is a little high. You can buy a Brother ULT 2001 or 2002 for that and it is a bigger machine. Like Crashnquilt said, You can buy a new one for that.

i have a Designer I and have had for 10 years.... it's a great one.... but when it comes to new purchase.... ALWAYS the Janome... most for your dollar and they are workhorses... I have 2 and bought my daughter 1.. my neighbor has one as well...but always go with the one that has the closest "support"... ie.. dealer or repair...

Check the prices on ebay. There are three up for bids now (this model) priced at $400 to $600, with no bidders.

I agree. I have the 350e and my first embroidery on it was within minutes of plugging it in.

I just noticed that also. They also had a ULT 2003. That is an awesome machine. Has the large hoop also.

I just ordered a BRAND NEW Brother PE770 from Amazon for $650. It will be here tomorrow. Went with the PE770 because it has the USB. There are a lot of used machines out there for sale that take 3 1/2 inch floppies or particular memory cards. #1: where do you buy floppies now days? #2: do you want to be limited to cards that are "yesterday's" technology? Just something to think about.
