I've been quilting my top and I notice that I lick my fingers alot. I know it is unsanitary, but I can't seem to sew without licking. How about you?

Nope. Have never done that. I cook a lot and am extremely careful about sanitation in my home.

No, not unsanitary to quilt receipent, bacteria dies when saliva dries up. It is unsanitary to you, depending on where your fingers have been.

I have very dry hands & I do the same thing - but isn't that what the washing machine is made to take care of?

I do wet my fingers sometimes. I always wash quilts after they are finished so I don't feel guilty.

have you tried that "tacky finger" stuff? I bring home some from work when it's last bit of stuff in the can. It works wonders for dry fingers.

I try not to lick my fingers because I know where they've been. ;)

I don't lick my fingers, but I manage to frequently stab myself w/pins so there's probably minute traces of my blood on things I've made *giggles*

I lick my fingers while sewing, never when cooking. I don't think it is any worse than moistening your thread.

I don't lick my fingers, but do use glycerin on my hands to prevent dryness when sewing.

i don't lick my fingers when I sew but I put the thread in my mouth when I thread a needle. It gives it a better point. I'm glad to hear any bacteria is gone when it dries.
