Default Template Techniques CATS

Do you have trouble making perfect half square triangles and find thangles sometimes a mess.
Last night went to my guild meeting and we had ruler demo night. One of the ladies had these and showed us how they worked. They were great so today I ordered a set. Love 1/2 square triangles!!!!!!

They are simple to use Cut Accurate Triangle Squares that is why they are CATS.

Looks like the tube method to me. Not sure why you would need a special triangle ruler...

I think they look pretty interesting. I have a ruler for the strip tube method, but using that the outside edges are on the bias with these they wouldn't be. Personally I think the templates would be worth it although there wasn't any pricing on the webpage, to not have to use papers or over cut and then cut down. If you already ordered - how much were they?

That's interesting. I just looked at some videos for the tube method and they do sew the seam on the straight and the resultant triangles have bias edges. I was shown this method at a quilt class, she called it the tube method, but we sewed the seams on a 45, just like the video of the tool does. I thought everyone did it that way!

There was, at one time, someone who taught to make HST, cut strips on the bias, sew together, then with a template square cut out the then created squares. That way the edges were straight of grain. Seemed like more work and waste to me.....I either cut squares, sew down middle or on both sides of drawn line....etc.....or if I'm doing a gazzilion I use the triangle on a roll.....faster for me....
