I quilted my quilt for class and I free motioned it. I noticed tonight while working on the binding that some of the stitches don't look like they are very secure in the back. Like the are kinda barley looped through the fabric. Does that make any sense? Like they are being held on by a tiny piece of thread in between stitches. Is this because I was using poly thread? This didn't happen with the cotton. should I try to take out the quilting? Will I have to re-do the binding too if i re-do the quilting?

Just read somewhere that when you freemotion you should leave the feeddogs up and cover them with an index card. It said you could have tension problems when they are lowered. I haven't tried this but am planning to. Tape the card down and punch a hole out for the needle. Let me know if you try it. Glenda

Sounds like the top thread was pulled too far to the back instead of in the sandwich. This is a tension problem. Either you need to increase the top tension, so the thread isn't pulled down as far or or loosen the bottom tension a bit so it goes up a bit. If it is just a little (like the botton thread runs flat with almost tight loops along it) when you wash the quilt, the batting will plump and it should be alright. If you have actual "eye lashes" you may need to fix it.
