I have my fabric all picked out for the spicy spiral table runner. That was a job in itself. Now as I read the instructions I am wonder if my 10 degree ruler that I have is going to work.
It is only 12" in length. If I understand the pattern right it looks like I needed a longer ruler. Can someone help me out by telling me how to work with this?
Really wanted to get a couple of these done before Christmas. May have to have a change of plan.
Can I make a template of the ruler and lengthen it? If so, would I lengthen it at the wide end of the ruler?
I just know there are so many smart people on here that someone must know what to do.
Thanks for your help.

Though I have not made this one yet, the 'rules' should be the same. Yes, you can make a template of any ruler, no you add the length on the 'wide' end (the narrow end would result in a point very quickly).

BUT, I would just take my longer ruler (I have a 5 X 24 one) and lay it right next to the '10 degree ruler', move the '10 degree' and cut what needed to be cut. If you can only cut with one hand make sure that your first cut in on that side. ie: right handed... first cut on right side, that way when you lay the longer ruler next to the 10 degree ruler you will be cutting on the correct side of the ruler.

I hope this helps.

Good luck and take pictures!

You'll need a longer ruler. You can use the 9 degree or the 10 degree ruler for this , but the ruler needs to be at least 25" long and it looks like a big dresden plate ruler. The 10 degree will give you larger curves, but only a tad larger than the 9 degree ruller will. Good luck on your table runner. Huggies, Fay.........One of the ladies here made a template to make her runner with. Can't remember who it was tho.

I made my "ruler" out of posterboard for the Spicy Spirals I did a couple of months ago. It worked out just great.

Thanks for all the help. I may have to put this project aside until the New Year but I am definitely going to do it.
So for now I will be concentrating on a couple more bow tuck bags and a tote bag of some sort and flannel p.j. bottoms for the two grandkids. Also a reindeer placemat for the grands to have for Christmas day! I will be a busy lady for sure!!
