They say that information is power. I was just wondering what the difference is between a can of sizing and a can of spray starch?? :-D :-D I do not have a clue :?: :roll: :roll: Any help would be apperciated very much.. Thanks for your help.

Sizing does not leave the fabric as stiff. Sizing is great for getting wrinkles out of cotton fabrics without the stiffness.

Part of the difference is what the two things are made of.

starch adds stiffness to the fabric- sizing adds body with out stiffness.
two different products made from different ingredients, used for different purposes.

i use sizing because it does what i want it to and it does not gunk up on your iron, you can get stiffness by spraying and ironing more than once, by the time i finish a block it looks like cardboard

One other thing I'v always been told to think about when using starch vs. sizing. is that moths like to eat fabric with starch on it, not so with the sizing.

Me too ... I can get things pretty stiff with the spray sizing.

Just wish we could purchase it here in Canada ... because of that, it's a highly treasured commodity for me!!

I also recently learned there is a difference between regular starch & professional starch...I love the professional, less flakes & alot stiffer.

Thank you for aksing that question. I have always wondered if there was a differnce. Our Walmart sells a new Niagra spray starch. It is in a dark blue/black bottle and is for dark fabrics and whites. It is less than $2.00 for a bottle. I love it for my dark fabrics.
