@dakotamaid: is Eleanor Burns pattern stringpieced?
Yes, it is strip pieced, than cut with this ruler. Lots of waste but she has patterns for the leftovers!LOL Very forthcoming of her!

There are great sales all the time on her website. The ruler and correct method how to use the ruler make the process more enjoyable.

This one is not from Eleanor Burns but it is free. It's paper pieced

Paper piecing with this block would make it very easy to get those tricky angles correct :D:D:D

Connecting Threads has all their books 40% off right now, and they carry this book that comes with the ruler. They also have a DVD showing you how to make the quilt.

The book and ruler are well worth the money spent. If you go the Quilt in a day website, you can sometimes get a discount on the book/ruler and get the DVD. I've made several of Eleanor's Day & Night pattern quilts. They look different by using different colors and placement of colors. My first one didn't have enough contrast, so I recommend making sure there is a lot of contrast.

Here are two that look different by color placements.

Default Day and Night quilt by Eleanor Burns

If you go to Nancy's Notions for the day and night quilt you will see the tool. I must say that Eleanor Burns has always in the past been truly generous to those of us who do not have speciality rulers. She has always included measurements to complete her quilts.

As she and her quilting buddy spent a long time working to convert this quilt from a template format to strip quilting and as she includes the ruler with the book I am sure she does this for accuracy as the ruler she developed is for this quilt specifically, not to mention ease.

This is such a terrific quilt no matter what the color scheme. Amazon carries her product for about $10 off the list price so there are deals to pursue. I wish you luck and hope you post a picture when you finish your quilt
