Default Is there a tutorial how to separate a zipper and reattach the pull?

I've seen a lot of pouches that use half the zipper. How do you get the zipper pull back on track when you only use one side of the zipper?

All the instruction I have found and on the patterns say:

slip the zipper pull back over the two ends, and zip the pouch up.

OK how is that done? I have wasted an hour trying to get the pull back on the zipper.

I'm not sure what you mean about using just half the zipper (I haven't made more than a few pouches), but if the basic problem is that you've got your zipper tape and need to attach the zipper pull, it can be tricky!

Attach the pull to one side of the coil at the bottom (so that when you slide the zipper pull it will pull the two sides of the zipper together) and move it up just a little, just far enough that it will stay attached. Take the other side of the coil and bend it a little so that you can get it into the other side of the pull. Then wiggle it a little until both sides are attached. It would be easier if I had three hands to hold both sides of the tape and the pull at the same time, since they all need to be moved together.

If you buy Lazy Girl Designs, Sweatpea Pods pattern, there's a great picture tutorial in there. Basically, you remove about 3/8" of the teeth at one zipper end. Cut just the teeth off with scissors. Start the pull on the end with teeth, then put the other end into the pull, and zip the zipper together.

Lazy Girl is the pattern I have. I have tried and it doesn't work for me. I may have to buy different zippers.

The first time I made the Lazy Girl sweetpea, I had no trouble following the directions to reattach the zipper pull. But the second time, I had a terrible time. So I tried a different zipper - still no luck. No matter how I wiggled, I was just all thumbs. I gave up, but now I have a whole batch of colorful zippers that I plan to use in other projects. Good luck!

If you really can't get it, Craftsy has a class on how to make the bags I think they are called "One Zip", a picture is worth a hundred words. its well done and you get the pattern. It tells you what brands work and you can mix and match colors. They has sales all the time on classes, too.

Are you using a coil-style zipper, or one with individual teeth? I don't think the coil ones will work for this.
