Red face Thimblelady Needles

Hello from rainy Houston, Texas. Just an update on my hand quilting. I got fitted for a Roxanne thimble and have been practicing my hand stitching. I am currently using Richard Hemming milliners size 9. I really like the longer needles.

I am still contemplating the Thimblelady needles. I like the idea of the longer need and so far it is working well for me. Have any of you used her needles? If so, which size did you get for quilting 100% cotton? I know her sizes as small, medium and large. From what I am reading, I think for hand quilting on 100% cotton fabric I should order the medium size.

Any thoughts?

I used her needles. I don't remember what size I have and I'm not at home to look right now. I think I ordered the medium too. I really like the needles and her thimble. I don't use a hoop or frame so kind of sort of do her method

I've used her needles. Sortof liked them. I use W&N batting so that may have been the issue with finding them a bit more 'bendy' than I like. If I remember correctly, her sizes are based on fabric density, or thread count, for lack of a better term. Read her descriptions as to which needles to use on which fabrics and I think you'll do fine. It probably was medium but I won't swear to that. Do like her stainless steel thimbles though. I looked at Roxanne's but found I liked the Thimblelady ones better. Good luck and enjoy.

I just ordered her medium needles and her plastic thimble as well as her dvd. I haven't received my order yet so I can't tell you how well I like them. But I'm anxious to give it a try. I use a hoop but I quilt with my fabric very loose.

I also have ordered her medium needles and am really looking forward to trying them out. I also ordered her thimbles. Does anyone know how long it takes to receive an order? I am so ready to test them out.

Her thimbles are based on finger size... not so sure about the needles... actually didn't know the needles came in sizes! Took a class several years ago in OKC at a LQS and a package of needles was included... But I use a slightly shorter needle. I quilt in a hoop with plenty of give in the quilt and I, too, "kind of sort of" use her method. I LOVE her thimble! When I ordered another thimble recently, I think it came in about a week? maybe a few days longer than that.
