Default Please help me on this quilt

I'm making a quilt for someone who's father is ill, so it's a prayer/ charity quilt. She wanted something "outdoorsy" and I had these duck panels in my stash. But I'm having a devil of a time deciding on cornerstones. These seem so light, but have blue, rust, and green in them. There isn't any green in the pictures, but "there should be". At any rate, are these too light? I will use the rust in the sashing for the border. Or perhaps someone has another idea for cornerstones? I do have a solid grey that is similar to the surround on the ducks, but it seemed even lighter.

I wish I'd used a narrower black and wider rust in the sashing, but I'm not going to re-do them.

I think these are fine, but if you think they are too light try using the center strip in the sashing. I think that would go nicely.

I had planned on using the rust for the border and thought that might be too much. What about picking up the red in the ducks? Ack! I hate picking colours.

If you have enough of the rust or black, I would try those as the cornerstones. You could try a rust and black checkerboard as cornerstones but they might be too busy.

How about trying a green cornerstone? I agree the ones in your first picture are too light. Just my thoughts - - -

If you have enough of the rust and black, I would make 9-patch blocks for the cornerstones. Rust-black-rust for the top and bottom of the 9-patch, black-rust-black for the middle.

I suggest you make a 9 patch like Prism99 described and audition it as a cornerstone. I made a quilt once that way and it turned out stunning. Here is a sample:

I'm thinking that they are not too light, but may be busy. Do you have something that would go, but could be a blender like the little strips? You do not want to draw attention away from the wonderful little duck panels.

Lovely quilt and layout, but I don't care for those cornerstones, either. I would use one of the blues from the panels... either the water or the lighter sky blue. Blender or batik....
