Here is my dilemma, I am a new quilter (2 months ) and currently have the Janome DC3050. This has been a great machine, but I feel like I missing out on so much more. I know upgrading would be the way to go, but wondering if upgrading TOO SOON is a good idea or not. If I do decide to get the 6600P I would keep my DC3050 b/c of the amount of traveling I do with my machine.

Your advice is much appreciated. Thanks so much.

I love my 6600 and wish I could have upgraded to it years ago! I must confess I still use my Pfaff for piecing because it's smaller and fits on my sewing desk better but the Janome is the go to machine for quilting. The sooner you get the machine the sooner you can start playing with free motion!!

Hi....I upgraded to this machine last year. I bought it second hand.
I have been really delighted with it...it is a dream ..but it did take a little getting used to. I love the flat bed and the table extension, they both make life so much easier and I don't miss having a free arm at all.
The quality of stitch is excellent and so many to choose from.
Free hand quilting was abit problematic to begin with but someone gave me the great idea to keep the feed dogs up and now it is lovely.
Would I buy it again...absolutely....don't know what the 7700 is like but that was out of my price range anyway.
Only tiny issue is the paint does chip...so handle it with care...
I have a smaller Janome for classes and previously had a Pfaff Select 3 and have a Husqvarna Designer 1 which I use mainly for embroidery but the 6600 is most definatly my favourite!

I have the 6600 and love it. However, would have purchased the 7700 if it had been available when I bought the 6600!

I've had my Janome 6600P a year and absolutely love it! Stitch quality is top-notch and I really REALLY enjoy free motion quilting. True, it does take practice, but oh so worth the time spent!

I suggest trying out the machine and waiting just a little while, then you will know if you really need more of a machine. I love my machine, but think it is a decision that should be thought over.

i have the 6600 as well, and also bought mine second hand from the dealer (so it came with a warranty). Love the machine *now*. Every other sewing machine I've owned or used I just sat down and everything was roses ... the Janome for some reason took some time before we got used to each other - both piecing and FMQ.

I LOVE the machine for FMQ, and I love it for piecing strips - the accufeed really comes in handy for that!!

Check with your dealer to see if they have any used machines. Chances are pretty good they will because Janome recently came out with a newer, bigger, more bells-and-whistles machine so some people may have traded in their 6600 or 7700 for the new one. I got my 6600 when the 7700 came out and folks traded up.

I recently purchased a used 6600 from a dealer and love the machine! I also purchased the table that it fits into and that made life much easier for piecing and fmq. This machine does everything that I want and then some (I am still working my way through the decorative stitches). The 7700 has a few more bells and whistles, but way more money. I just finished a king size bargello and fmq the entire thing on my new machine. I just love it!
