    Thread breaking....

I was working on a quilt for a client who wanted no batting put between the top and. bottom fabrics, I complied and my thread kept breaking. I had just done a "normal" quilt project, so something was up! I placed a low loft batting on or in the main body of the quilt and the threads stopped breaking. On the outer sashing, where there was no batting I still had thread breakage. Any one else have this issue when not using any filler or batting in a project?

Sounds like you may need to adjust the tension. I've never made a quilt without batting, but when I switch between quilting & regular home dec sewing, I need to adjust the top tension or my thread breaks.
