Great quilts, Monale! Have you decided how you will quilt them? For the top quilt, I think a single warm neutral would work well, something similar in hue but a bit lighter than the border. For the second, I think I'd aim for something close to the lightest neutral.

Your quilts are beautiful. Just depends, most hand quilters want to see the stitches so they use either white or cream. Do you want your stitches to show??

I decide what design or pattern I want and how much I want to accent before I decide on the color thread. There are no"rules"
