Thread question... where to find Auriful
#1
I have recently been told my janome only wants this type of thread.;( it is expensive . I have a janome magnolia..that recently was having a lot of issues and we changed the thread to this one the dealer said to use and it loves me again. Those of you who have this machine what kind of thread do you like and if you use this thread.. where do you get it for less that 10.99 a 1300 yard spool?

Tristan's (www.tristan.bc.ca) - even with shipping from Canada, their prices can't be beat. Really good deals on door crashers - boxes of 24 rolls for about $50.
If you do a search for Tristan's on this site, you'll get at least a few threads that have comments about them.

First off, I love, LOVE, LOVE aurifil thread. It's wonderful. But, if you're machine will ONLY take Aufil I think something's wrong with it. I do try to use high quality thread, but I can switch brands with no problems. Yes, good thread makes a difference, but if your machine (especially if it's a new one) will only use one type of thread, I'd say it needs servicing of some kind.

Aurifil is very smooooth. It glides through the machine nicely and has very little lint compared to some others. I use the 50 wt. for piecing and it's nice and thin. I've bought some 30 and 40 wt. for quilting, and love that too.

Last month, I bought one of Tristans special variegated bundles of thread. It is smooth and sews very nice. I have the 28 wt and the 40 wt in my bundle.
Although, there are a couple of the spools that I'm going to have to really work hard to use. I do prefer the new syle of variegated threads that has a much shorter distance between changes in color.
I blogged about it here, and you can see what I mean by the color changes in a sample I did when trying out my purchases.

I did buy one of the "Piecing" bundles and it consists of 6 50 wt threads. I really like that one for piecing.
