I was going through my drawer of thread and found several rolls of embroidery thread that I bought when I bought my machine Ok my question is what is the difference between the embodied thread and other thread and can I use the embodied thread for regular sewing on a quilt ?

If the embroidery thread is rayon, I would not use it for either piecing or quilting because rayon is considerably more fragile than other types of thread -- great for embroidery; not so great for quilts. If the embroidery thread is polyester, it is probably fine for quilting.

Ditto Peckish and Prism. I use poly embroidery thread all the time for quilting on the longarm. I don't piece with it though.
