I have been blessed with a kenmore 85 thanks to my wonderful hubbie.I want to really take care of my sewing machine.I have been told to only use a certain thread And that this thread doesnt leave lint in the machine.Since so many of you have been useing vintage machines,I need your wisdom. Is there really a best thread and if so what should I use???? Thanks in advance for your wisdom.... Mary

They're like most machines...they can be picky. I have one machine that I can't for the life of me get a good stitch out of with anything but Coats and Clark...others are happy with Gutterman, Connecting Threads, etc.
Whatever thread you use, just make sure to clean her often and you'll be ok. :)

Most of my vintage machines are not picky at all and could probably sew with dental floss if I wanted too:> Vintage machines can easily have their tension discs cleaned. I do it all the time. Unlike computerized machines that have the tension discs inside the machine. I really wouldn't worry about thread for your machine. Use what you like and can find easily. I only use quality thread on my expensive, computerized machines...but my vintage ladies can take any thread I throw at them.
