Went to Lancaster Thursday with two of my very best friends. We shopped Thursday (Sauder's and Burkholder's) then went to the AQS show Friday. I was a little disappointed in the quilts.
There was an exhibit of Karen Kay Buckley's work and another exhibit called "Botswana" and some very nice quilts by quilt artists. It did not seem to have the numbers of quilts that the Heritage show had, the quilts made by just regular, everyday quilters. Even the shopping (vendors) didn't seem up to par.
Satuday we went to the vendor mall across from the Host Resort, again, nothing spectacular. Next time I want a shopping frenzy I will just go to Lancaster in the spring or fall when the quilt show is not going on. Burkholder's is the best, but beware, they won't ask you if you're a quilt guild member
(discount)...you have to ask them.
I don't know, maybe after decades of attending quilt shows I'm just jaded.

DH and I went to Lancaster to get some feed. On the way we stopped in at the Host. I wanted to visit with a vender. She asked if I was going down to the AQS. I told her I was't planning on it. I didn't want to drive in to town. This year they have a shuttle that will take you back and forth. My thought, for next year I will go to the show but park at the Host and take the shuttle to center city. It will be so much easier. I am planning to go to Hershey. They really have a nice show there. Good classes too. Quilt Odyssey is the name of the show.

My friend and I went, and were also feeling very disappointed. We were about to leave when someone asked if we had been upstairs? We didn't even know there was a 2nd and 3rd floor! They could have really used more signage. All in all, I've seen enoiugh civil war repro's, I was wishing for more variety. Still managed to spend money however!

I'm just back from Lancaster too. I had to skip the show but my friends went, they said the show was just OK (best was on the first floor), it cost $5 to park in a lot to take the bus which was $1 - I don't remember a charge for either last year. I didn't skip Zooks, Sauders or Burkholders and got tons of fabrics at great price. Best buy was at Sauders where I picked up 10 yards for myself and 5 yards for my sister of a great creamy fabric with light tan small leaf outlines for $1.69 per yard - that made the trip worth while for me. The Hershey show is July 28-31 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Ctr. The web site is: www.quiltodyssey.com It gives you all the information. It always has been a very good show and the classes that are offered and the ones that I have taken in the past have been wonderful.

I also went to the show on Friday. I had a ball with my friends but the show was disappointing. I had seen many of the quilts last year in Hershey. They did mix the display quilts with the competition quilts. I would like to see them dedicate an area to the competition quilts and label them better. I like to know what category they compete in and some info on how they are made.
