Instead of making a label, I put my name, city and date on the part of the binding that goes in the back of the quilt. On the picture, the blueberry fabric is the backing that is folded over the front (white fabric).

I have seen this done with quilts that are entered or displayed in shows. It's supposed to be a theft deterrent because the label can't be removed.

Nice! I've been known to cursive my info into the bottom of the quilt, while quilting. Even though it's on the front of the quilt, usually the thread matches the quilt, so it doesn't stand out.

One quilt I made for my (16 yr old) daughter last year before her spinal fusion surgery was filled completely with words or phrases that family and friends think of about her; princess, happiness, beautiful, brilliant ball of laughter... Very emotional to quilt all that right before a major surgery for a teen daughter.

I have also FMQed my name and date on quilts. You usually have to look for it, I kind of try to hide it.

A bible verse. Every year I change it. 75% of my quilts are donated to veterans and babies, want them to have a touch of God with them. Guess don't really care if they know who did it. The vet or a parent might be inspired to open a bible to look up that verse and fall in love.

And should I ever see that quilt again, will know what year I made it.

Sorry, is there a way to delete the second post?

I like to make my tablerunner or toppers to be used on both sides and a label interferes with the design but putting my name, etc. on the binding would blend right into the design. Thank for the good idea.

A label can't be removed if it's quilted into the quilt:>
