kathy it's amazing what a fabric shop can get rid of if it's bundled with some cute fabric......I have a few cow pie fabrics if you need them...lol

with my chicken poop and your cow patties and no telling what else she's gotten, that should be a really interesting quilt!
maybe when it's done we can have a drawing to name it. we'll have to be careful with the name or we may not be able to find a charity to take it!

What was the outcome with all the ugly fabric you received Patrice?

oh Steve, please tell me you have better taste! I absolutely love batiks but that stuff was just awful!
I think the quilt is still in the planning stage, there were a few "gotta get dones" ahead of it.
I'm sure there's room for more if anybody wants to contribute to it.

A before and after picture would be cool. And an ugly fabric contest would be a total hoot, though don't know if I have it in me to go looking for such stuff just to enter.

I'm currently piling up a gift package for a lady at work who wants to learn to quilt (imagine someone asking me to teach them to quilt!). It would be so easy to pass off some disagreeable fabric to her, but the idea is to encourage her so I haven’t the heart. There is a piece some gal gave me (no, not you Leslee, or you either mom) that is so cheap it makes sackcloth look extravagant. The pattern isn't too horrid, but the quality is the absolute very bottom of the barrel. I keep thinking to run it through the wash and see if, with loss of sizing, it could possibly soften up and prove half decent; I just feel sorry for the machine.

the point isn't to deliberately shop for something ugly. many of us have laughed at ourselves because we've gone through our stashes and discovered things that made us wonder what we were smokin' when we bought them in the first place. or struggled to remain straight-faced and gracious when a well-meaning friend gives us something they just know we'll love but we think is beyond hideous.

and yet ... we can't bring ourselves to throw it out. so ... sooner or later ... something must be done with it. before we die. so our heirs or archaeologists will never discover the truth.
