Default Top Completed from Boom Swap 9, Atlantic Group!

Whew! Here is my Boom 9 quilt top, just finished last night. I love it! The blocks that are all the same are Broken Dish blocks made by me. I wasn't sold on using black until I found the perfect black for it (the second picture is a closeup where you can hopefully see the subtle grey flowers). Excuse the mess! Sewing trumps cleaning; I'm sure most of you would agree. If you've never done a Boomerang Swap, I highly recommend it. It was so much fun.

Now, what color backing should I use? And what color thread to quilt? White thread will show up on the black sashing, but black thread will show up all over the blocks.. What do you think?

What a great quilt, you did a fabulous job! I agree with the grey or variegated backing. I love to piece my backs, what about using any leftover fabrics from the front?
I would love to know who makes that beautiful floral black you found please? Hopefully my LQS will have some...

Very attractive! You did a great job with those boom blocks! Your own blocks unify all the blocks.

I'm leaning towards grey or white thread, and same for backing. I have a dozen 6in squares of the red that's in the broken dish blocks.. I may end up doing a piece background somehow.

The black fabric is from Joann's.. it's actually Joann's brand of fabric. I will check if there is a lot number or anything for you when I get home tonight.

Beautiful quilt. I am currently in the sterope swap with you. I love the way you finished this. Can't wait to get all my blocks back. Are these 12" square?

I think I am headed to the LQS this weekend with everyone's advice in hand. Thanks for the input!

I can quilt it on my DSM, or take it to a LA.. if I take it to the LA, what pattern should I use?
