    Default comfort/prayer quilt ideas?

I want to make a quilt for a dear friend who was just diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Today she finds out her treatment plan. What I have in mind is a center scripture panel surrounded by a wide border made with photo fabric with pictures of her nearest and dearest - with that border surrounded by another wide border of assorted fabrics of things she loves to do - they farm, she's the music minister of her church - sings and plays piano and organ, she has two granddaughters and a grandboy on the way, one son is a police officer - so whatever I can find that represents those things. That would entail finding many different fat quarters that have such things. As I think about it I may just do the photo border then add borders of complementary fabrics.

Thoughts? Suggestions? I've read of many comfort/prayer quilts on here and am trying to remember other ideas. Tie it so those who pray with/for her can tie a knot?

    Prayer quilts are my favorites.
A few ideas to share with you:
If she is a music minister, there are lots of lovely fabrics with hymn lyrics, like Amazing Grace, etc.
There are so many lovely patterns that incorporate Crosses, too.
If you have an embroidery machine, the possibilities are endless.
A tied quilt is a wonderful idea as well.
You might want to put a panel on the back so that individuals from family, friends and church can sign it and pray for her. I can't find the thread right now, but I did one for a man who comes to the dog park we visit. That way she can read the prayers, thoughts and sentiments.
Also if you do a search of the board, you'll find lots of wonderful ideas.
Wishing you many blessings as you embark on this project - and prayers for your friend.

Make sure to make it the size she can take to her treatments to keep her warm and comfort her.
