Some people put these thread out for the birds in the spring - they use the thread for nesting.

Somewhere in my quilt folders I have instructions for making thread bowls, using Disolving Sulky or something like that, water, and a bowl or container that you want the shape of. If you would like the instructions, I'll look it up, just PM me.

You can mix good old white glue with it.....press it out flat and they wait for it to dry. I then cut heart shapes out of it...and shared little lapel heart strings with my sewing group!

If you put it out for birds in the spring, please cut them into small pieces so they don't get caught around the birds' bodies.

I really like the lapel heart pin suggestion - I belong to a group called The Art Tarts and this will make great christmas gifts! Thank you so much

I wrote earlier about the heart strings pins....but wanted to add another comment....

After they are dried you can still add "wads" of cut up strings of a certain color....such as, one friend really likes red, so I cut some strands of red threads and kind of laid them across the heart...and another friend loves light blues so I took DMC embrodiery floss and gave them a dab of glue and draped and wrapped them around the heart.

Glad you all like this idea it is fun to play with our treads...other than wearing them. lol
