This is how I cheated with chenille. Made large blocks on the diagonal and trim them to the desired size with the cut rows going perpendicular. No one but you will know.

Yes. Just sew them as you do a rag quilt.

How many alyers are you working with? are you using and special chenille tool?

I made a chenille throw and it came out great. Did you do one set of cuts on the bias, and the other set at a 90 degree angle to the first bias line?

Yikes! I got flannel to make a chenille scarf. You mean I can't just cut 5 layers the length of the fabric and layer them?

No, to make chenille it MUST BE cut on the diagonal/bias, either the fabric must be cut on the 45 degree line or the sewing must be on the 45 degree angle (if cutting on the straight of grain) and then cut between the lines for the effect. Sewing with Nancy had a show on how to make a scarf with just 1 1/4 yards of a rayon, flannel, wool or homespun fabric. I've made lots of these scarves, you do use 5 layers but they are cut on the bias, layered and just straight sewing. It's all in the folding of the fabric and cutting. They're really soft and fun to make. If I knew how to get the pics from my computer I'd post them.

Gosh I am glad you told me! I would have done it wrong! Yea, I wish you could post pics. Maybe I can find an online tutorial. Anyone know any good ones?

You can sew your lines going different directions on the top layer. just make sure that they are all on a 45 degree angle or they will not fluff out as nicely.
