Default Tshirt quilt with fusible batting?

I searched the forum and did not see this anywhere.

I am thinking about doing a tshirt quilt using fusible batting to stabilize the pieces. I intend to quilt each block as I go, then put the blocks together. Not sure how I will do it yet!

I have never worked with fusible batting, and don't know if the batting is a temporary or permanent fuse. I guess I am a bit lazy and would like to replace the fusible interfacing with the batting.

Does anyone have experience doing this? All suggestions are welcome!

    Phyllis

Hobbs fusible batting is water solvable and washes out. I don't know if it would stabilize the T shirts enough for quilting. One reason to use stabilizer for t shirt quilts is so the blocks are stable enough to sew cotton fabric to the knit without getting ripples.

I used Pellon 911ff. Someone here on the board recommended it. It is lightweight. Joann's sells it.

The trouble is many t-shirt have printed "paint" on the front of the t-shirts so how would you fuse the batting?? I ruined one of my Rowenta irons because I got that "paint" on it.
