I tried the tube method as explained in a tutorial from Missouri Star. What fun but when I put them together, I lost the points. There is no seam allowance by putting the 45 deg angle on the seam lines of the tube. Does the demonstrator put the ruler in the wrong place or what did I do wrong? Several on the site mentioned that her measurement of 4 1/4" should be 4 1/2". I'd love to get this right as it is a fun thing to do and so simple!

yep it was 4 1/2, not 4 1/4 I believe.

OK. Got it figured out. This is a really neat idea. Will use this one again.

I assume, too, that this can be done with any width fabric, just so the width of the wider piece equals the combined width of the 2 narrow strips. Fun!

It is so much fun because you don't know what it will look like until you cut it. I love it. :thumbup: :thumbup:

Put in tube quilts in the search area and you'll find lots of comments!! Love this technique!!
