Default Tumbling Block Quilt Help

I found this on youtube and I must be missing something. Have tried and tried to get my blocks to line up but everytime I cut the strips they come out the same direction. Can anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

You should have two separate strip sets, one set will make the left side of the block and one set will make the right side of the block. On the first set you first cut the strip with the triangle ruler with the point on top of the strip set. On the second set you first cut the strip withe the triangle ruler with the point on the bottom of the strip set. That should give you strips going both directions. Hope that helps.

See if the written description (with measurements) will help you sort it out. I found this in the HGTV archives.

I love the tumbler block. So easy. Check out Missouri Co Company for their video. Jenny does a great job explaining. oops...wrong tumbler...

Quiltaddict is correct. I took a class to make this quilt. Even though I watched the youtube video and wrote the instructions from the HGTV site, I was a mess. I highly recommend you buy Marci's book. It has excellent illustrations. I could write a book showing all the ways you can screw up this quilt. Marci's book would have made it less painful.

Awesome I think I figured it out. I put 1 set of strips on top of the other back to back then cut and I have it. Boy oh boy this was driving me crazy. Thanks everyone.

Good for you. Remember that there are days for each of us when nothing turns out right. Don't persevere. Go to something else and come back. What is impossible one day may well be obvious the next.
