Turn Master Bedroom into sewing room?

I've been thinking about this for awhile, making the master bedroom my sewing room. I live alone in a 5-bedroom house. Three of them are very small, like 10'x10', and I use one of those for my sewing room and one for an office. The third is a guest room with just a bed and dresser. The 4th bedroom is a little larger and is where the longarm is. It barely fits in there, have to angle it out from the corner to be able to squeeze around one end of it to get to the back. My master bedroom is 15'x16' and it's the largest room in the house practically. I thought about using the living room (it's not used other than to walk from the front door to the family room) but with the cat I wouldn't be able to keep her off of everything. To tell the truth I usually just sleep on the couch in the family room anyway.

I've even thought of having the two walls between the 3 smaller rooms taken out and put in one wall to make two bigger rooms but don't think I want to put that money into this house. Would it be ridiculous to use the master bedroom for the long arm and sewing tables? I could still keep the fabric organized in the other room and make the 4th one my bedroom.

I know that no one else really has any say in it and I can do whatever I want, it's my house. It just feels a little weird to do that.

Use the rooms for your best advantage. I would think that you are only talking about essentially rearranging the furniture. Women have been doing that since the garden of Eden.

I would use it as a sewing room, but before moving the longarm, I would set up cutting area, ironing area, sewing area, reading area, tv, storage, planning wall etc. the lonarm would take up lots of space in that room....

Several years ago, I went from a tiny sewing room/office into my living room. It was 16 x 22 and no one ever went in it. Once in a while the UPS guy would come to the door, everyone else used the back door.....I really needed the space, so I moved my sewing room and office in there, and I have never looked back. The quilters that come know they can come in that door anytime, and now even the UPS guy uses the back door, although he mostly brings fabric! This room is used every day! Oh that little tiny sewing room I had, I took out a closet and a dark ugly hallway, opened it up into my kitchen and made kinda like a den that connects to my kitchen, and that is used all the time also.....so it was win, win....I say do what makes you happy! Life is too short to not have things the way you want them. Jan

    Master BR

Believe it or not that is exactly what I have been thinking of doing. I just don't know what to do with the furniture in the room. But, why not ?

We have a large (20x30) living room that we NEVER used. It is now my studio with a long arm, sewing table, cubbies for yarn, shelves for papercrafting supplies, a huge cutting table, a round crafting table and a sitting area to do hand work and read. Oh yes, it also has a wood buring fireplace! I am in heaven.

Moral of the story is...use that master bedroom for a studio, you will never regret it!
