Default Tutorial I need help with

Creative Connections-Hexagon Table Topper on You Tube

I tried to attach the URL and couldn't get it to work. Hopefully you will be able to find it this way. Would you please watch this tutorial and tell me what she is measuring. The first measurement on the raw edges I get but the second measurement I don't understand. I worked on this afternoon and just don't get. It certainly looks simple enough and maybe I'm just being "thick". Any help will be appreciated.

It's not real clear, but I just had to give it a go LOL. You start with a 14" Square an then you fold one triangle and then fold it again. I measured 7" from the point of the triangle along the longest edge and made a mark I then lined my ruler up from this mark to the other top edge (where all the raw edges are) and cut there. I ended up with a lovely looking Octagon, not Hexagon as she says.
I could try and take some pictures if you don't understand my explanation , I'm not the best at trying to explain things I hope this helps

She says she is measuring the top of the last triangle she folded, but it's not clear how she gets the 7" measurement. If you started with a 14" square like she did then I would just use the 7 inch measurement she uses to make that angled cut. That cut creates the hexagon sides. I hope this helps.

Thank you to both of you for your explanations. Woody, I think I understand your explanation. I'll give it a try and see what happens.

I had trouble with my first one so I did it with paper (started with a smaller square) until I figured it out.
