    I just did this with a child's quilt. It was a large panel, all I had to do was add borders and quilt it. I used pink on the top/bottom and blue on the sides. Turned out great. Will have a picture in the next few days...

    Another thing you might try is to put two or three colors across top and bottom, and three or four colors up and down the sides. They wouldn't even have to be the same measurements of each color. I've also done bindings like that. They were 12 to 28 inch strips sewn together. This looks especially great on a really scrappy quilt.

    Here's one I made last year with primary colors and multiple colored borders. Hope it helps with visualization!
