I keep a pair of 5 or 6 inch tweezers and bent scissors and a magnetic wand (to pick up pins, needles scissors
at every machine... Yep all 4 of them! I get the magnetic wands at the automotive parts stores they reach out
from 6 inches to 3 foot... also have a magnetic bowl to use on the long arm for holding pins.

Me too, except I usually use nippers unless I'm doing FMQ. I get them 8 for $2 on ebay. I always have my purple thang too. :-)

If your machine has a front loading vertical bobbin, a surgical seam ripper does well. You lift the hoop or fabric just enough and swipe the tangle with the seam ripper. Then you can move hoop or fabric and clean up all the threads.

It's more used with sergers, but it does wonders on tangles. I have a Pfaff 2170

For embroidery tangles, this is the best.
