You don't need another block. Just put them in a different order.
Put three in the bottom row and two in the next row nestled in. Then number six goes on top.
I've see a cute baby quilt like that.
I don't think black would be necessary. A nice cloud pattern would look cute, and applique some stars or such around in it.
You did a great job with your hollow cubes. The light on the "floor" of the inside is great. Shows the light coming from the top. (After I got the picture turned right side up. LOL) Great choice of fabrics to bring out the "hollow".
