Just got a 221K Featherweight in excellent condition for $177. What is a 221K Featherweight? Need to know before I start celebrating my good fortune and dancing around for joy.

The featherweight is a lovely little portable sewing machine by Singer. It sews a wonderful straight stitch and if taken care of, will outlast you. Quilters like them because they are small, lightweight, and easily carried to classes and sewing circles.

According to what I was able to find it depends which motor the machine was orginally equipped with. North American or European voltage requirements. Here is the info. from a website I found.
"Motors: Models 221 and 221-1 were originally equipped with 110-120 volt motors. Model 221K Featherweights were originally equipped with either 110 volt or 220 volt motors. Except for the motors, the mechanical components of all Class 221 models (221, 221-1, and 221K) were fundamentally unchanged from 1933 through 1961."

Is there a difference between 221K and just 221 when it comes to the featherweights?

221Ks were manufactured in Scotland, the 221s in the USA.

Do your happy dance. You will love it and it is so easy to transport from one place to another. Just be sure to clean the lint out in the bobin area often and give it a little oil. It will give you many happy hours .
