Recently I inherited some beautifully variegated crochet/tatting thread. It's about the same weight as my hand-quilting stuff and still very strong. What are the things I should consider if I want to try quilting with it?

Tie pretty close together 6 to 10 inches at the most to keep batting from shifing and fairley close to the edges (an inch to 2) My suggestion only.

I was intending on putting it in the bobbin and machine quilting with it. First, handquilting a small project just to see how it wears with the stitching.

If it's too old it might break. Try it on a scrap and find out how strong it is.

Ah, as I read down, I saw that you were thinking of machine quilting.....and here I was going to tell you I recently finished handquilting a candlewicked quilt with #10 wt. crochet thread. :-)

It was amazing if I do say so myself, but, though I've asked repeatedly for copies of the pictures taken of it, I have yet to receive them to share here.

I LOVE quilting with crochet thread, the look is very nice!

Thanks Jan! If and when you get copies of the pics, I'd love to see them.

I've hand quilted with it. Never thought to put in machine. Let us know how it works!
